YouTube Thumbnail Downloader
Download thumbnails from any YouTube video in all resolutions.
Supports: youtube.com/watch?v=..., youtu.be/..., youtube.com/shorts/..., youtube.com/embed/..., or a plain 11-character video ID.
About YouTube Thumbnails
- Max resolution (1280×720) may not be available for older videos — HQ or SD will be provided instead.
- Thumbnails are publicly accessible images served by YouTube's CDN.
- For your own videos, upload custom thumbnails at 1280×720 (16:9) in JPG or PNG format.
Download YouTube video thumbnails in any available resolution — from the full 1280×720 maximum resolution down to the 120×90 default — by pasting a video URL or ID.
Key Features
Universal URL parsing
Extracts the video ID from all YouTube URL formats: standard watch links, shortened youtu.be links, embed URLs, Shorts URLs, and live stream URLs, as well as plain 11-character video IDs.
All five resolutions
Attempts to load thumbnails at maxresdefault (1280×720), sddefault (640×480), hqdefault (480×360), mqdefault (320×180), and the default (120×90) size, dimming any that are unavailable for the video.
Direct download
Downloads the image file directly to your device. Falls back to opening the image in a new tab when browser CORS policies prevent a direct fetch.
Availability detection
Thumbnail cards that are not available for the entered video are automatically dimmed, so you know at a glance which resolutions you can actually download.
How to Use
- 1Paste a YouTube video URL or the 11-character video ID into the input field.
- 2Thumbnails load automatically for all available resolutions.
- 3Click the Download button on any resolution card to save that image.
- 4If a card is dimmed, that resolution is not available for this video.
